They say being appreciative and thankful is the key to real happiness. If so, then I must be the happiest girl around, because I have so much to be thankful for.
First are the biggest and most important things: my healthy and happy family, my wonderful work family and friends, my own health and my freedom — those are blessings I’m always grateful to have, every day. But sometimes it’s also the little things we take for granted that we should be thankful for, too. Because when you really think about it, they make a difference in ways we barely even notice.
For example, I’m thankful for June Jacobs Neroli Hydrating Mist ($28.50). Infused with a powerful blend of antioxidants, it’s stirred up with red, white and green tea extracts, goji berry, pomegranate and grape seed. Just one spritz relaxes me and rejuvenates my skin during the dry winter months.
I’m thankful for Katharine Hepburn, for pioneering the notion that women can rock unconventional style, and be smart, independent and sexy.
I’m thankful for Golden Goose sneakers (we sell them at Gretta Luxe boutique in Wellesley, and on goldengoosedeluxebrand.com): I’ve always boycotted sneakers of any kind because I never found a pair that made me feel comfortable, flattered and stylish until these: a brand I finally can wear with dresses, skirts and jeans of all kinds.
Alta Strada Market: From salads to pizza to the justifiably world-famous Mama Zecca’s eggplant, I look forward to nothing more than this fresh food takeout savior right near my work in Wellesley. Another nearby food blessing is Wasik’s cheese — a regular stop for me. The ultra-friendly, independently owned shop peddles perfect gifts to send anywhere and delicious wine, and every time I step into the store I discover a new favorite delicacy.
Julep Lip Crayons ($20): I love that they moisturize and have beautiful smooth coverage.
I’m thankful to style icon Iris Apfel, for proving that you can be chic at any age.
For hydrating sleeping masks — anti-aging skin moisturizing that works magic while you sleep. Thank you, science!
And lastly, since we’re about to hit the holiday season hard-core: pre-lit, faux holiday greenery. Using them instead of the real deal costs less overall, is more eco-friendly (if you reuse them for years to come) and saves a ton of time in cleanup. No more finding pine needles in the nooks and crannies of my house two months from now! Now that’s something to be thankful for.
